What is the difference between an EKG or ECG?

are acronyms for an electrocardiogram, a test performed on those believed to be experiencing cardiac arrest. In this noninvasive test, a patient's heart beat is assessed for speed and efficiency using several sensors placed on a person's chest. Why do some people use the term "EKG" and others use "ECG"? Because they were trained to do so based on different spellings of the same word.

The ECG simulator can also be used for training clinicians on the use of defibrillators. The ECG simulator produces different types of cardiac rhythms and enables doctors and nurses to defibrillate so-called patients using established protocols. For instance, some ECG simulators come with several different rhythms that would be appropriate for defibrillation training and others for pacing training. During the exercise, clinicians would determine the type of use that would be appropriate, connect the defibrillator to the simulator and begin performing established protocols to restore a normal heart beat. The simulator would then be able to measure the electrical shock that was administered and cardiovert into a waiting rhythm. Not only does this allow hospital personnel to practice their skills without endangering patient lives, but it also affords trainers the chance to test clinicians with uncommon diagnoses and protocols. The fast-paced medical industry, exciting though it may be, does not allow for mistakes or faulty machinery.
