Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can be a fatal risk for the 1 in 300 children who have an undetected heart condition. Kate Bogue learned this frightening fact after finding our her daughter had a congenital heart problem. Bogue immediately began working to spread heart health awareness She specifically targeted her daughter’s local soccer league, a place not prepared to handle an SCA emergency.
Teaming up One Beat, Bogue was able to get the Coral Springs Youth Soccer League three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for two of their local parks. In addition to the AEDs, all board members and coaches were to get CPR and AED training. Bogue hopes that more leagues and schools follow and invest in these lifesaving measures.
